Arab, Islamic FMs Welcome Hamas’ Approach to Trump Peace Plan

The foreign ministers of 8 Arab and Islamic countries welcomed Hamas’ response to the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza.

They also welcomed Trump’s call on Israel to immediately halt its bombing of Gaza, appreciating his commitment to establishing peace in the region.

Hamas Reacts to Peace Plan

Hamas on Friday agreed to release all the hostages – alive and deceased – according to “the exchange formula contained in President Trump’s proposal, with the necessary field conditions for implementing the exchange,” adding that it is ready to “immediately enter, through the mediators, into negotiations to discuss the details.”

The group also expressed readiness to “hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats) based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.”

As a result, negotiating teams from Hamas and Israel have headed to Egypt’s Sharm Al-Sheikh, alongside US and Qatari representatives, to hold discussions on Monday, October 6, 2025, regarding the technical details of Trump’s peace plan.

Welcoming Hamas Response

On Sunday, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Türkiye issued a joint statement regarding Trump’s 20-point peace plan and Hamas response to it.

In their statement, the foreign ministers welcomed the “steps taken by Hamas regarding US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war on Gaza, release all hostages, alive or deceased, and the immediate launch of negotiations on implementation mechanisms.”

Moreover, they welcomed Hamas announcement of its “readiness to hand over the administration of Gaza to a transitional Palestinian Administrative Committee of independent technocrats.”

In the light of this, they underscored the need to immediately launch negotiations to “agree on mechanisms to implement the proposal, and address all of its aspects.”

Praising Trump’s Efforts

The ministers also welcomed Trump’s call on Israel to immediately stop the bombing of Gaza and to begin implementation of the exchange agreement. Furthermore, they appreciated “his commitment to establishing peace in the region.”

The statement stressed that these developments “represent a real opportunity to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, and to address the critical humanitarian conditions facing people in Gaza Strip.”

Arab-Islamic Commitment

The foreign ministers of the 8 countries reaffirmed their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at “implementing the proposal, working for the immediate end of the war on Gaza, and achieving a comprehensive agreement that ensures unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”

They also stressed their rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people and of measures that threaten the security and safety of civilians.

Additionally, the statement reiterated support for “the release of hostages, the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza, and the unification of Gaza and the West Bank.”

It also reaffirmed commitment to reaching a “security mechanism that guarantees the security of all sides, in a manner that leads to the full Israeli withdrawal, and the rebuilding of Gaza, creating a path for a just peace based on the two-state solution.”
