The Ministry of Commerce has released the results of its first-phase evaluation of 100 e-stores, measuring compliance with 10 standards aimed at protecting consumer rights and improving service quality.
According to the ministry, all assessed stores achieved full compliance (100%) with requirements for maintaining secure, high-quality websites—covering site speed, usability, and cybersecurity protections. They also recorded a 99% compliance rate in providing accessible customer service channels and transparent policies on exchanges, returns, and refunds.
Moreover, compliance ranged from 91% to 96% across four standards: publishing privacy policies, outlining shipping rights, displaying registration and tax numbers, and showing licenses on the homepage.
For three other criteria—publishing a complaints and suggestions policy, authenticating the store through the Saudi Business Center, and verifying the store’s commercial register link—compliance ranged from 79% to 75%.
Finally, the ministry emphasized that the evaluation is intended to strengthen compliance, safeguard consumer rights, and support e-stores in enhancing their services. Full assessment results are available at http://mc.gov.sa/esv.
