Syria’s Culture Minister Hails Saudi Excellence at Damascus Book Fair

Syrian Minister of Culture Mohammed Yassin Saleh visited the Saudi Arabia’s pavilion at the 2026 Damascus International Book Fair on Sunday, as the Kingdom currently serves as the prestigious Guest of Honor for the event, which runs from 6 to 16 February.

During his comprehensive tour, Minister Saleh praised the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission for its exceptional presentation of Saudi heritage, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The pavilion effectively highlights the rich diversity and depth of the Saudi cultural scene through several high-quality, interactive exhibitions. Visitors can explore rare manuscript displays, a dedicated Saudi fashion corner, and meticulously crafted archaeological replicas that tell the story of the Kingdom.

Empowering Global Knowledge Exchange

Furthermore, the Minister reviewed the groundbreaking “Tarjim” translation initiative, which translates significant global works into Arabic to enrich the region. He also examined the latest Saudi literature comics, representing a modern and creative shift in the Kingdom’s diverse publishing industry. These initiatives reflect the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to establish global cultural leadership and knowledge exchange.

This participation at the 2026 Damascus International Book Fair successfully showcases Saudi creativity while fostering a meaningful regional cultural dialogue. Consequently, the Kingdom continues to build bridges with international partners by sharing its unique literary identity and creative talent.
