
Minister of Education and Chairman of the King Saud University Board, Yousef Al-Benyan, together with Dr. Abdullah Alghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), launched the SAMAI 2 initiative in partnership with 11 government ministries during the International Conference on Data and AI Capacity Building (ICAN 2026).

During the launch, Al-Benyan and Dr. Alghamdi presented the SAMAI 2 charter to representatives from participating ministries, including health, finance, media, justice, industry and mineral resources, transport and logistics, education, human resources and social development, municipalities and housing, sport, and energy.

Moreover, the SAMAI 2 initiative aims to equip employees across targeted government sectors with the skills needed to adopt artificial intelligence technologies, boost productivity, and improve workplace efficiency through specialized training and awareness programs.
Building on the achievements of SAMAI 1, the initiative has already enabled more than 1.1 million Saudi citizens to receive high-quality training and accredited certifications—an unprecedented national accomplishment achieved in record time.
