The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared a public health emergency of international concern amid the global rise in mpox cases.

Weqaya stressed that the Kingdom’s health system is strong and effective and has the capability of confronting various health risks.

The authority indicated that Saudi Arabia has taken all preventive measures and procedures to monitor and limit the outbreak of the virus and to ensure the health and safety of citizens and residents.

Furthermore, Weqaya emphasized the Kingdom’s full preparedness to combat the potential scenario of outbreaks through the following measure:

  • Several preventive measures
  • Awareness plans
  • Epidemiological investigation procedures
  • Responses to infectious diseases with an epidemiological impact

The authority called on the public to get the information only from official sources and not to pay attention to rumors and unreliable sources.

Moreover, it asked all citizens to be careful and to follow the necessary healthy procedures, and also warned against travelling to countries where cases of “mpox” virus have spread.
