“We Lived in Peace Before Zionism” Jewish Man Reflects on Historical Coexistence in Jerusalem

In a video shared by TRT Arabic on TikTok, a Jewish man from Jerusalem speaks about historical coexistence before the rise of Zionism.
“We used to live in peace before Zionism,” the man states, reflecting on the past relationship between Jewish and Palestinian communities in Jerusalem.

He emphasized the close bonds that once existed: “Palestinians were our best neighbors.”
The man also describes intimate cultural connections that demonstrated the deep level of trust between communities: “Some of us would breastfeed each other’s children,” referring to the historical practice where women would sometimes nurse children from different families, considered one of the strongest bonds in Middle Eastern cultures.
“We used to cook together and live in peace,” he concludes, highlighting the everyday interactions and harmonious coexistence that characterized life before political tensions escalated.

“The only thing that disturbed the peace is Zionism and its ideas after they took over the land. This was an uprooting of faith from its roots. They don’t want you to be an Orthodox Jew; they want to recruit you into the army to fight for their homeland and die for their filthy idea,” he added.
The brief interview, filmed in Jerusalem’s old streets, provides a personal perspective on the historical social fabric of the region before modern political movements altered community relations.
