Trump, Al-Sharaa Highlight Urgent Need to Preserve Syria’s Integrity, Stability
Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa and US President Donald Trump underscored the need to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity and support all initiatives to ensure its stability, according to Arab News.
During a telephone conversation on Monday about the latest developments in Syria, both presidents stressed the significance of protecting the Kurdish people and guaranteeing their rights within the broader framework of the Syrian state.
Moreover, the two leaders agreed to continue their mutual cooperation to combat terrorist groups in Syria and neutralize its threats.
During the call, Al-Sharaa and Trump voiced shared aspirations for a strong, unified Syria that is capable of confronting regional and international challenges. They also stressed the need of giving Syria the opportunity to build a better future.
In a recent call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said he was “very satisfied” with Syria’s performance under President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who made a historic visit to the White House in November.
He also noted that the United States was “doing everything within our power to make sure the Government of Syria continues to do what was intended” to rebuild Syria that was torn apart due to the civil war.
