The Hail: Saudi Hub for Citrus Production in Saudi Arabia
The Hail region is distinguished by its abundant citrus production in Saudi Arabia, which accounted for 40% of the Kingdom’s total citrus exports for the year 2022, according to statistics from the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, reported Akhbar 24.
This achievement is due to the government’s significant efforts to provide food security and reduce food imports.
The region’s prince, Abdul-Aziz bin Saad bin Abdul-Aziz, sponsored the third edition of ‘Hail Citrus’ festival in 2023. It was held at Al-Fajr Walkway in Hail city, and organized by the Agricultural Cooperative Association.
During the event, the prince highlighted the future of citrus production in the region, the enhancement of economic activity and the opening of marketing windows for farmers. He also tackled and attracting factories and investors for the processing industries of citrus products with generous support from the wise leadership for environmental, agricultural, and water projects, aiming to create a high-quality competitive product. He acknowledged the notable role of the Ministry’s branch and the successful experiences in the citrus processing industry and the possibility of benefiting from and applying them.
Documentary on Citrus Cultivation
The attendees watched a documentary about the importance of the region in citrus cultivation and the high production rates of Hail. The documentary showcased the evolution of agriculture in the region. The event also witnessed the signing of several agreements between the Association and various partners in the region.
Al Othaim City Center
Al Othaim Investment Company launched a groundbreaking project in Hail.
It represents a significant step in the company’s expansion strategy and commitment to economic prosperity in line with Saudi Arabia’s 2030 vision.
The Al Othaim City Center project, notably backed by the Prince of the Hail region, ambitiously aims to be a comprehensive investment venture.
Importantly, it will include a standard hotel, alongside a range of entertainment, commercial facilities, and diverse dining options.
Furthermore, this project is a critical component of Al Othaim’s strategic plan to establish shopping malls across Saudi Arabia. These malls aim to provide an international shopping experience, featuring an array of retail units, and leisure attractions.
Masterplan
The Al Othaim City development’s masterplan is ambitious and expansive, covering 100 hectares. It includes 11 residential buildings and showrooms facing the main road. Above these showrooms are four residential towers, plus the Al Othaim HQ mixed-use tower.
The plan also features a mosque, 35 villas, a medical center, a petrol station, and an area for warehousing.
