Syrian President, Saudi Foreign Minister discuss relations between the two countries
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad discussed bilateral relations on Tuesday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, who is visiting the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Arab Role in Supporting Syria
The Syrian President indicated, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), the importance of the brotherly Arab role in supporting the Syrian people to overcome all the repercussions of the war on Syria, stabilize the situation and liberate all Syrian lands, considering that the changes taking place in the world make Arab cooperation more necessary at this stage to invest in these changes in the interest of the Arab people in their different countries.
He stressed that the brotherhood that brings together Arabs remains the deepest and most expressive of the ties between Arab countries. He also stressed that the healthy relations between Syria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are in the natural state that they should be.
These relations constitute interest for the two countries but also reflect Arab and regional interests as they stem from historical depth, according to Bashar al-Assad.
He refers back to the long decades between the two countries. He indicates that Saudi Arabia’s open and realistic policies are in the interest of Arab countries and the region.
Achieving sustainable development
For his part, Prince Faisal expressed the Kingdom’s confidence in Syria and its people’s ability to overcome war effects and achieve sustainable development.
Faisal affirmed the Kingdom’s support for Syria and its support for everything that would preserve the unity, security, and stability of the Syrian lands and create a suitable environment for the return of refugees and displaced persons, noting that the next stage requires that the relationship between Syria and the Arab countries return to its proper state and that Syria’s role in the Arab and regional spheres is better than it was before.
The Saudi Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to the Syrian President, and their wishes to the Syrian government and people for security and stability.
While the Syrian President conveyed his greetings and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also expressed appreciation to the Kingdom’s government and people for further progress.
