Strengthening Ties: Australian-Saudi Business Forum Boosts Bilateral Trade

The Australian-Saudi Business Council (ASBC) successfully hosted a joint forum on Thursday, focusing on enhancing trade and investment collaboration between Australia and Saudi Arabia. The event, led by Daniel Jamsheedi, the council’s country director, attracted over 35 participants from both nations, including industry leaders and government representatives.

Building on Future Minerals Forum Success

The forum aimed to build on the momentum generated by the first Australian Pavilion at the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) in Riyadh earlier this week. The FMF, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, highlighted Saudi Arabia’s $1.3 trillion mineral wealth and its vision to become a global mining hub.

Sam Jamsheedi, president of the ASBC, emphasized the importance of the Federation of Saudi Chambers in facilitating the event. “The Federation of Saudi Chambers is one of our key stakeholders and partners within the Kingdom,” he said. “We deeply appreciate their efforts in ensuring the success of this joint business forum.”

Strengthening Economic Partnerships

The forum underscored the growing economic ties between Australia and Saudi Arabia, particularly in mining, technology, and sustainability. Saudi Arabia has committed SR120 million ($32 million) in mining incentives this year, targeting companies with technical expertise to accelerate exploration and production timelines.

Australia, a global leader in mining innovation, is well-positioned to collaborate with Saudi Arabia in developing sustainable mining practices and advanced technologies. The ASBC’s initiatives align with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on oil.

Opportunities for Collaboration

The event highlighted opportunities in sectors such as mineral processing, green metals, and renewable energy. Saudi Arabia’s strategic location and vast mineral resources make it an ideal partner for Australian businesses seeking to expand into the Middle East and Africa.

The ASBC also announced plans to lead a strong Australian delegation to the 2025 Future Minerals Forum, showcasing Australia’s capabilities in mining and resources. This delegation will further cement bilateral relations and drive innovation in the sector.

A Vision for the Future

The joint forum marks a significant step in strengthening the economic partnership between Australia and Saudi Arabia. With both nations committed to sustainable development and technological advancement, the collaboration promises to unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation.

As Sam Jamsheedi noted, “This forum is just the beginning. We are excited to explore new avenues for collaboration and investment, ensuring mutual benefits for both countries.”
