Smart Health at KAUST Holds Its Annual Conference

The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), represented by the Smart Health Initiative, held its annual conference under the title “Human Health: An Accelerating Impact” in the Kingdom.

This event presented a unique opportunity for scientists of the Smart Health Initiative.

The initiative also showcased research projects and  distinguished partnerships in the field of human health, a primary priority for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Overview of conference’s theme, objectives

Tony Chan, President of King Abdullah University (KAUST), opened the conference with a welcome speech.

Chan stressed the importance of bringing together science and public health leaders from a wide range of medical, academic and health industry institutions.

This meeting also reviews the latest scientific achievements for the development of precision medicine and personal medicine locally and internationally.

A selection of speakers participated in the conference and held more than 40 scientific lectures.

In addition, it featured a poster exhibition from 20 research laboratories at King Abdullah University.

Space Medicine, Educational Approaches

Discussion sessions at the conference covered topics like “Space Medicine,” the importance of multidisciplinary research and its benefits.

Additionally, the session presented new educational approaches, the impact of artificial intelligence and machine learning on training the next generation of scientists and doctors .

Emphasis on collaborative efforts

NEOM and KAUST signed a memorandum in the fields of biobanks, artificial intelligence, and wearable sensing technologies.

Role of KAUST

The KAUST  Conference this year was a unique platform to showcase the initiative’s achievements on various health-related topics.

The conference included cancer treatment, wound decorating, computer vision, and artificial intelligence in diagnosis.
