Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY)hosted a workshop with the UN Development Program at its Riyadh headquarters, led by the UN Development Program’s Deputy Resident Representative in Yemen, Dr. Nahid Hussein, and the SDRPY Yemen’s Assistant General Supervisor, Engineer Hassan Al-Attas.
Engineer Hassan Al-Attas, the SDRPY’s Assistant General Supervisor, welcomed the delegation from the UN Development Program in Yemen, praising the two sides’ ongoing cooperation.
The workshop reviewed the state of the Yemeni fisheries sector and discussed ways to collaborate in supporting the fisheries sector and other sectors related to food security in Yemen. This will improve the daily lives of our Yemeni brothers.
In light of the presence of an appropriate ground for setting a development vision in Yemen led by the Yemeni government, the workshop emphasized the importance of cooperation in strengthening Yemeni institutions, building their capacities, and coordinating donor efforts in collaboration with the Yemeni government.
The SDRPY presented 18 development projects and initiatives in the agriculture and fisheries sector. These included seven projects and 11 development initiatives promoting the use of modern agricultural technology systems. In addition, they included projects to provide fully equipped greenhouses and supply and distribute fishing boats equipped with modern engines, to increase production.
These efforts are part of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen. This program has implemented 224 development projects and initiatives in various Yemeni governorates, serving Yemeni brothers in seven main sectors, namely education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture, and fisheries.
