Under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, the “Saudi Ophthalmology Conference 2024 – Red Sea” will kick off next Friday, with extensive international participation from specialists in ophthalmology, at the Jeddah Hilton Hotel.
The conference organized by the Saudi Ophthalmology Society in collaboration with the National Guard Hospital in Jeddah, the Eye Hospital, and King Fahd Military Medical Complex in Jeddah, is expected to attract a wide international presence, with more than 3,000 participants anticipated, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, and those interested in eye care from around the world.
Dr. Bandar Al-Qahtani, the chairman of the organizing committee, clarified that the conference will include more than 53 scientific sessions, 50 training courses, and over 450 scientific papers, with participation from more than 200 international and regional speakers who are leading specialists in their fields.
He noted that the conference topics will focus on developments in corneal diseases and surgery, anterior segment surgery, refractive surgery for vision correction, cataract surgery and lens implantation, as well as specialties in retinal diseases, vitreous body surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and eye inflammation.
On his part, the head of the media committee for the conference, Dr. Waseem bin Abdulaziz Alam, emphasized the importance of the conference as it presents, for the first time, courses in the fields of medical education, scientific research, and evidence-based ophthalmology, in addition to scientific sessions for emerging doctors and live workshops that contribute to enhancing the skills of doctors and practitioners in various ophthalmic specialties.
