Saudi Arabia and Uruguay has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a joint business council, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
On Monday, the Saudi-Uruguayan joint committee, established under Article 7 of the General Cooperation Agreement, convened for the first time at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital city of Uruguay, Montevideo.
The Undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture, Eng. Ahmed Al-Khamshi, co-chaired the meeting alongside the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Dr. Nicolas Albertoni.
The meeting was also attended by several officials, including the Uruguayan Vice Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries, Eng. Juan Ignacio Buffa, and the Saudi Ambassador to Uruguay, Eyad bin Ghazi Hakim.
On the sidelines of the inaugural meeting, both sides signed an MoU to establish a joint business council between the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC) and the Uruguay Exporters Association.
The Federation of Saudi Chambers sponsors and represents the interests of the Saudi business community and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, on the local and international levels, by engaging in various activities and through memberships in local and international organizations.
It also plays a critical role in drafting the regulations and decisions related to governing and serving the Saudi business community, through its membership in different committees, the Shura Council, and the Bureau of Experts.
Furthermore, the Federation of Saudi Chambers has a dedicated department that enhances the Kingdom’s relations with trade partners in several countries around the world through the Saudi-foreign joint business councils.
