Saudi Arabia, Türkiye Bolster Military Cooperation

Saudi Arabia and Türkiye explored enhancing military cooperation during a meeting in Ankara, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Saudi Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and Turkish Chief of General Staff, General Metin Gürak, co-chaired on Friday the sixth meeting of the Saudi-Turkish Joint Military Committee, held in the Turkish capital.

During the meeting, the Saudi-Turkish Joint Military Committee reviewed cooperation and coordination between both countries in the defense and military fields. They explored ways to further strengthen cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

Furthermore, the committee’s meeting saw the discussion of various issues and topics of common concern.

The meeting took place at the Turkish General Staff headquarters. Several high-ranking officers from the Saudi and Turkish armed forces attended the meeting.

After that, Saudi Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, held a meeting with the Turkish Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler. Both officials reviewed bilateral relations and explored areas of cooperation in the defense field.

In October, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye boosted their defense cooperation during the Saudi-Turkish Bilateral Defense Cooperation Committee’s sixth meeting in Jeddah.

Both sides discussed enhancing defense capabilities, transferring technology, and localizing defense production. Furthermore, they explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in defense manufacturing, particularly through joint research and development.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the strategic importance of their defense collaboration, especially that it would contribute to regional peace and global security.
