Saudi Arabia Partners with Hollywood’s Top Film School to Cultivate Local Talent
Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh University of Arts has forged a major partnership with the prestigious University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts, with the aim to develop the Kingdom’s film talent while simultaneously supporting vital international cultural exchange opportunities.
Significantly, the institutions concluded the signing ceremony during the globally recognized Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Deputy Minister for National Partnerships and Talent Development Noha Kattan signed the document on behalf of the Riyadh University of Arts, whereas Alan Baker, Associate Dean of the School of Cinematic Arts, formally represented USC. This high-level participation underscores the national importance the Kingdom places on developing creative capabilities.
Strategic Academic Alliance
Under the comprehensive terms of this agreement, the USC School of Cinematic Arts and the Riyadh University of Arts will collaboratively design specialized bachelor’s and diploma curriculums and courses for the university’s College of Film.
Furthermore, senior faculty and specialized staff from the renowned USC School of Cinematic Arts will actively share best practices with future students at the College of Film.
Consequently, this initiative establishes crucial training programs for new national instructors, preparing them both locally and internationally. Considering USC’s position as one of the world’s leading film schools, boasting strong industry ties and a nearly century-long history of producing Hollywood’s most notable filmmakers, this alliance provides unparalleled expertise.

Ultimately, this agreement represents one piece of a wider series of partnerships between the Riyadh University of Arts and elite global institutions, all working to co-design advanced academic programs.
The Riyadh University of Arts, launched in September 2025 under the guidance of Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, aims to establish a robust foundation for creative education and cultural innovation.
Crucially, the university equips Saudi students with the specialized skills necessary to support the Kingdom’s rapidly expanding cultural sector, perfectly aligning with Vision 2030 objectives. As a result, the university will expand its academic portfolio in phases, eventually covering all subsectors and offering continuous education, including short courses, diplomas, and postgraduate degrees.
