Saudi Arabia Leads Fifth IMFC Deputies Meeting in Washington

Saudi Arabia led the fifth meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) Deputies, held on March 30, 2026, at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C., with participation from senior officials and experts representing member countries.
In his opening remarks, IMFC Deputy Chair Dr. Ryadh Alkhareif highlighted the ongoing challenges facing the global economy amid shifting conditions. He stressed the importance of regularly assessing economic developments, setting clear policy priorities, and identifying solutions to support sustainable growth.

He also reaffirmed the IMFC’s vital role in enhancing international coordination and collective action to tackle shared economic issues.
During the meeting, participants reviewed progress on the Diriyah Principles, introduced at the previous IMF–World Bank Spring Meetings, which are intended to shape future discussions on IMF quotas and governance.
The meeting underscored Saudi Arabia’s leadership in guiding the committee’s work and its continued dedication to promoting global cooperation and maintaining the stability of the international monetary system.
