Saudi Arabia Backs UN Report Accusing Israel of Gaza Genocide

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday welcomed a United Nations report confirming Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, placing responsibility squarely on the Israeli government. The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry issued the findings, stating genocide is occurring in Gaza with Israel bearing full responsibility for these actions.

Commission chief Navi Pillay emphasized the report’s conclusions, stressing Israel bears direct responsibility for ongoing atrocities against Palestinians. The independent commission did not speak on behalf of the UN but provided a detailed, evidence-based assessment of the situation.

Saudi Arabia Demands Immediate International Action

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement highlighting the report’s findings, noting that the report “clearly demonstrates the crimes and violations suffered by the Palestinian people.” Furthermore, the ministry renewed its call for the international community to take decisive action. It urged the enforcement of international resolutions, the implementation of the two-state solution, and an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel was established by the UN Human Rights Council four years ago. Since the war began in October, 2023, the commission has documented numerous human rights abuses that have occurred throughout Gaza and other Palestinian areas as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has escalated.

These deeply documented findings from the three-member team represent the latest genocide accusations aimed at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. Israel continues its protracted war in Gaza, which has already resulted in the deaths of thousands of civilians and widespread destruction. The final report strongly urges the international community to take significant steps. It asks them to end the violence and hold those responsible for the genocide accountable.
