The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has announced the launch of the Electronic Check Clearing System (ECCS) as part of the e-services available on its official website. The new service enables check clearing to be completed within one business day.
In a press release issued today, SAMA stated that the initiative supports its digital transformation strategy, which aims to provide automated, secure, and unified digital services to individuals and institutions.
The e-Services Portal offers digital alternatives to conventional transaction methods, improving user experience through faster processing, easier accessibility, and enhanced data security. Since its launch, the portal has delivered a range of electronic services, including inquiries about the accounts, deposits, and safe deposit boxes of deceased individuals; submission of complaints against financial institutions; requests to exercise personal data rights; applications to join SAMA’s Regulatory Sandbox; and requests for non-objection to leadership appointments. SAMA noted that additional e-services will be rolled out in the future.
