
The Board of Directors of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) convened in Riyadh on Thursday and approved financing for 19 development projects across key sustainable development sectors.
The meeting was chaired by Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of AGFUND’s Board of Directors. Members reviewed the organization’s activities and achievements for 2025 and examined the proposed projects submitted for funding during the current cycle.
The Board praised AGFUND’s participation in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Arab Coordination Group (ACG), held in Washington, D.C., which highlighted the Group’s legacy and its significant role in improving livelihoods, strengthening community resilience, promoting inclusive growth, and advancing a successful model of international cooperation for sustainable development.

Members also commended AGFUND’s role in organizing the 2024 Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development ceremony in Madrid. The event honored winning projects aligned with the theme “Life Below Water,” supporting Goal 14 of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

During the meeting, the Board approved funding for 19 projects that meet AGFUND’s standards and align with its strategic objectives, particularly within its five core programs: Women’s Empowerment, Early Childhood Development, Education, Civil Society Development, and Financial Inclusion. The projects also address priority areas such as water, food security, climate change, and environmental sustainability, benefiting communities in 29 countries.
The meeting concluded with a call to adopt a forward-looking vision that builds on AGFUND’s achievements and strengthens its development impact in line with global transformations and sustainable development priorities, within the framework of the organization’s updated strategy and institutional identity.
Since its establishment, AGFUND has supported 1,796 development projects in 133 countries, working in partnership with more than 450 entities, including UN agencies, international and regional organizations, government institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
