Child Protection in Cyberspace
The Child Protection in Cyberspace (CPC) Global Summit will be held in collaboration with the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), DQ Institute, and WeProtect Global Alliance.
It aims to establish the pillars of international cooperation to build a safe and empowering cyberspace for children from across the world.
Key stakeholders, decision makers, government representatives, international organizations, as well as the private sector from around the world will participate in the flagship event to identify pathways for collaboration and collective action towards ensuring that children are safe in cyberspace.
Efforts Coordination
Stressing the significance of the CPC Global Summit, UNICEF Executive Director, Catherine Russell, said that the Summit marks an important opportunity to coordinate international efforts towards maximizing the benefits of technology potential in children’s lives, while protecting them from its threats.
In the light of this, she emphasized the importance of collaborative work to make cyberspace a safe place for children to learn and socialize.
Urgent Task
Similarly, ITU Secretary-General, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, noted that children protection in cyberspace is a shared responsibility that has become more urgent than ever, especially as children spend more time on the Internet.
She added that the Child Protection in Cyberspace Global Summit will bring together leaders and decision makers from all sectors to ensure a safe cyberspace for children.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority, Eng. Majed bin Mohammed Al-Mazyed, said that the CPC Global Summit will discuss topics and initiatives that align efforts towards protecting children in cyberspace, in the light of their increased use of modern technology.
