Paris 2024: Saudi Swimmer Mashael Al-Ayed Exits 200m Freestyle

Saudi Arabian swimmer Mashael Al-Ayed’s journey in the 200-meter freestyle event at the Paris 2024 Olympics concluded on Sunday as she finished in 29th place out of 31 participants with a time of 2:19.61 minutes.

At 17 years old, Al-Ayed made history as the first Saudi woman to compete in Olympic swimming, marking a significant moment for Saudi Arabia in the realm of sports.

The ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics, running from July 26th to August 11th, have seen Saudi Arabia secure a total of four medals in past editions.

meanwhile, the nation claimed two silver medals and two bronze medals in previous Olympic Games.

Saudi Arabia’s Olympic medal history includes a silver and a bronze from the Sydney Olympics in 2000, a bronze in London 2012, and another silver in Tokyo 2020.

Worth mentioning, in this year’s Paris 2024 Olympics, Saudi Arabia is participating in five different sports, showcasing their prowess in equestrian show jumping, taekwondo, athletics, and swimming.
