National Center for Wildlife Development Reopens Riyadh Zoo

The National Center for Wildlife Development announced Friday the reopening of the Riyadh Zoo after it was “temporarily” closed for maintenance and improvement.
The center stated that the zoo is resuming its activities and welcoming visitors starting from today, following the completion of maintenance.
The Riyadh Zoo is one of the important tourist destinations in the Kingdom, frequented by visitors. It houses over 1,300 animals of about 190 different species, including endangered species.
Moreover, the zoo spans an area of 55 acres, making it the largest and oldest zoo in the Kingdom.
King Khalid Royal Reserve
In a major stride towards wildlife conservation, the King Khalid Royal Reserve released dozens of endangered animals. This significant move marked a pivotal moment in the efforts to preserve biodiversity and restore the natural balance within the reserve.
A Haven for Endangered Species
Accordingly, the King Khalid Royal Reserve, renowned for its sprawling landscapes and diverse habitats, has become a sanctuary for numerous endangered species. The release of these animals is not just a step towards their conservation but also a crucial effort to revive the ecosystem.
Moreover, this initiative was made possible through collaborations with various international wildlife conservation organizations. These partnerships have been instrumental in sourcing, breeding, and preparing these animals for their return to the wild.
Prince Mohamed bin Salman Royal Reserve
Prince Mohamed bin Salman Royal Reserve has become the new sanctuary for 85 endangered animals. This significant initiative marks a vital step in wildlife conservation, showcasing Saudi Arabia’s commitment to preserving biodiversity.
Revitalizing Wildlife Populations
The animals released into the Bin Salman Royal reserve include a diverse array of species, including 20 Arabian oryxes, 40 Arabian gazelles, six Nubian ibexes, and six mountain gazelles. The new residents were facing threats in their natural habitats. Bin Salman Royal Reserve, with its vast and varied ecosystems, offers a safe haven where these animals can thrive.
