KSA, France Sign Military Cooperation Agreement

Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, announced on Wednesday that he had discussions with his French counterpart, Sebastien Lecornu, reported Al Arabiya. They witnessed the signing of a military cooperation agreement. Their talks focused on the vision of both countries for the security and stability of the region. They also discussed recent regional and international developments.

Prince Khalid stated on the X platform that he and the French Minister of Armed Forces witnessed the signing of a project. This project is an executive plan for cooperation in military capabilities, industries, research, and development. It involves collaboration between the Saudi Ministry of Defense and the French Ministry of Armed Forces.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) previously reported the arrival of Prince Khalid bin Salman and his delegation in Paris on an official visit. This visit was based on the directive of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

The agency further stated that during his visit, Prince Khalid bin Salman would meet with several French officials. These meetings are aimed to discuss areas of cooperation and joint coordination between the two countries. They will also cover a number of topics of mutual interest.

France: Top Destination for Saudi Tourists

A Saudi official reported that 140,000 Saudis traveled to France in 2023. Toulon has become a new popular destination for them.

Many Saudi tourism companies participated in a Mediterranean tourism forum in France this November. Companies from 15 Mediterranean countries also joined.

François de Canson, a tourism director in Southern France, confirmed the visit of 140,000 Saudis to France this year. He expects a 20% increase in 2024, nearing 170,000 Saudi tourists.

He noted nearly 800,000 Gulf visitors to France in 2023, including 300,000 Turks and 260,000 from other Middle Eastern countries.
