Japan to Partner with KSA in Mining Sector
At a time when Tokyo confirmed its strategic relations with Riyadh, it revealed a joint Saudi-Japanese approach through the launch of joint investments in several countries. These countries are scattered all over Africa, Asia, and Europe, reported Nabd.
This initiative aims to maximize supply chains in the field of mining over the next two years. Moreover, a senior Japanese official emphasized that Saudi Arabia is Japan’s largest strategic partner.
The Japanese Minister highlighted that the results of the “Saudi-Japanese Investment Forum 2023,” which recently ended in Riyadh, were positive.
He also noted that Saudi Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih affirmed the competitive advantages of Japanese companies in investment opportunities in major projects in Saudi Arabia.
Ken Saito, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry said, “Our cooperation with Saudi Arabia as a strategic partner aims to develop industries in the Kingdom. This visit saw the participation of numerous Japanese partnerships in vital fields. They include: aerospace, medicine, healthcare, and water desalination.”
The minister said the previous remark in an interview with “Al Sharq Al Awsat”.
Strategic Partnership
“Saudi Arabia has a strategic geographical location and acts as a major hub connecting three continents – Asia, Africa, and Europe. This advantage can be leveraged to maximize bilateral strategic cooperation,” added Saito. “There are significant opportunities to maximize cooperation in the field of mining both domestically and internationally, and to launch joint investments in several countries in the region and beyond.”
“We, in Japan, desire more cooperation with the Kingdom in these areas and share its ambitions. Through JOGMEC, we provide data and survey resources for training and developing human capabilities, as well as exploring Saudi investment opportunities for Japanese companies,” continued the minister.
