The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has provided a $135 million financing package for the Upper Atbara Dam Complex project in eastern Sudan, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The project aims at boosting the region’s water and energy infrastructure through harnessing 3.6 billion cubic meters of water and generating 320 megawatts of renewable energy at the Rumaila power station.
IsDB stated that the dam project represents an unprecedented revolution in the concept of the sustainability of water and energy resources.
With a bold vision to strengthen the sustainable economic growth and address the infrastructure of water and energy resources, the project expands access to renewable energy and usable water and sustain development in the eastern Sudan.
