Iraqi president calls for the development of relations with Saudi Arabia
Iraqi President Barham Salih stressed on Monday the importance of developing relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and enhancing prospects for cooperation in various fields through the Joint Coordination Council between the two countries.
During his meeting with Saudi Commerce Minister Majid Al-Qasabi and his accompanying delegation, the Iraqi president called for developing areas of cooperation in the economic, commercial, agricultural, investment, and oil sectors in a manner that achieves the interests of the peoples of the two countries and the region, according to a statement by the Iraqi presidency.
For his part, Al-Qasabi affirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting the security and stability of Iraq, strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the two countries, and cooperating in the fields of economy, investment, and trade in the interest of the two brotherly peoples.
According to the statement, during the meeting, they reviewed the close relations between the two neighboring countries and the two brotherly peoples and ways to strengthen them in all fields, the Iraqi-Saudi brotherly relations, and their development, and the two countries’ keenness to bridge the relationship between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that a secure, stable, sovereign Iraq and solid relations with its Arab depth and Islamic neighborhood, is an indispensable element in consolidating security, stability, development, and regional peace.
