Gaza: South Korean President Visits Saudi Arabia, Qatar

The office of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yulS said that he left for a 5-day state visit to Saudi Arabia and Qatar today, Saturday, to discuss the security situation in light of the crisis in the Middle East region and the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Yoon’s first stop in Saudi Arabia will extend from Saturday to Tuesday. He will hold a summit with the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salmaan ahead of attending various economic events.

Among the business leaders accompanying President Yoon are Samsung Electronics CEO JY Lee, Hyundai Motor Group CEO ES Chung, and the heads of Hanwha, GS and HD Hyundai groups, the office said.

The visit comes almost a year after the Saudi Crown Prince visited South Korea and discussed cooperation in the fields of energy, defense and infrastructure construction. They signed $30 billion investment agreements.

Hamas militants hang glided into Israel and started attacking Israelis, killing them and holding captives.

Israel retaliated by bombing Gaza, cutting food, water, electricity and the internet, all while ordering a full siege of Gaza.

Gaza Discussions Between World Leaders

 

During the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit (ASEAN) HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman  said that he was ‘saddened’ by the escalating violence in Gaza, for which innocent people were paying the price, and firmly rejected the targeting of civilians.

On a phone call with the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, the Crown Prince emphasized the importance of reinforcing international and regional efforts to halt military operations in Gaza. He stressed the need for De-Escalation in Gaza.

In a similar tone,  the Crown Prince emphasized to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on phone the necessity to exert all possible efforts to reduce tensions. He stressed preventing the expansion of violence to avoid serious implications on regional and global peace and security.
