French Construction Companies to Show Their Products at The Big 5

From December 4 to 7, 2023, sixteen French construction and building finishing companies will showcase their innovative products and services at The Big 5. This event is one of the largest events in the construction sector worldwide. It coincides with the UAE hosting the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28 UAE).
The Big 5 offers a golden opportunity for French industry leaders who specialize in digital transformation, electrical and mechanical engineering, building materials, and sustainability.
Consequently, the French companies will exchange expertise to shape the future and promote forward-thinking in construction.
French Pavilion Highlights
The sixteen French exhibitors will introduce new materials, products, and solutions for facility management, smart buildings, urban planning, landscaping, and green construction. These include automated processing systems, eco-friendly nano paints, solar-powered security fences, timber-framed houses and high-performance concrete technologies and services.
Economic Impact on UAE
The UAE’s economic development, heavily reliant on tourism, currently accounts for 13% to 14% of its GDP. However, the government’s new strategy aims to increase this to 18% by 2031. This strategy aims to increase health, sports, adventure tourism, and sustainable development. Consequently, this will positively influence the construction sector.
French-UAE Partnership
Axel Baroux, French Trade and Investment Commissioner, emphasized the French construction industry’s readiness to form strategic alliances in the region. The partnership between France and the UAE, founded on a mutual commitment to sustainable construction practices and carbon emission reduction, aligns with the visions identified in COP 28. This collaborative effort seeks to provide leading solutions to global construction challenges, in line with Dubai’s Urban Vision 2040 unveiled by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in March 2021.
French Construction Sector and National Strategy
The French construction market plays a significant role in France’s and Europe’s economies. For example, companies like Vinci and VSL lead the sector with diverse capabilities. In 2022, the sector included 394,000 companies and recorded historic revenues of 149 billion euros.
Two years ago, President Emmanuel Macron unveiled the “France 2030” investment plan worth 54 billion euros over 5 years. It aims to develop industrial competitiveness and invest heavily in future technologies and support environmental transformation. Moreover, the national strategy “Solutions for Sustainable Cities and Innovative Buildings,” worth 675 million euros, was launched by former Prime Minister Jean Castex in 2021. It is also part of the “Living in Tomorrow’s France” initiative, designed to enhance sustainable housing construction across French regions. This structural transformation is based on the Climate Resilience Act, which aims to strengthen France’s position in combating climate change.
