Deputy Foreign Minister Receives Assistant Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada

The Deputy Foreign Minister, Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, received today, at the Ministry’s office in Riyadh, the Assistant Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada for European, Arctic and Middle East Affairs, Alexandre Leveque, and his accompanying delegation, reported Saudi Press Agency.

They discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them to serve the aspirations of the two countries. They also discussed issues of common interest.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Ambassador Saud Al-Sati, and the Canadian Ambassador to the Kingdom Jean-Philippe Linteau attended the meeting.

Gaza Discussions

Against the backdrop of the two-month-long attacks on Gaza, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been holding talks with various countries to discuss the situation in the strip. His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, received phone calls from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discussing the escalating situation in Gaza.

During the conversation with Prime Minister Trudeau, the Crown Prince emphasized the necessity of exerting all possible efforts to de-escalate tensions, ensure violence doesn’t broaden, and highlighted the importance of lifting the blockade on Gaza for medical and relief aid to enter the sector. He also voiced the Kingdom’s rejection of the forced mass displacement of Palestinians in Gaza.

The ongoing war in Gaza has left almost 19 thousand killed. Almost all of the buildings have been flattened with bodies still stuck under them. Besides the airstrikes raining on Gazans, hunger, thirst and chilling winter cold is threatening Gazans, adding to their suffering.
