The global pharmaceutical exhibition “CPHI Middle East,” held at the Riyadh Exhibition and Conference Center in Roshan Front from December 10 to 12, witnessed the signing of agreements worth over SAR 10 billion and the announcement of several strategic partnerships with major local and international companies.
Among the agreements was a SAR 1 billion deal signed between the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Investment, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
This agreement aims to promote research, innovation, and development to enhance local manufacturing opportunities for gene therapy treatments, including therapies for sickle cell anaemia and beta-thalassemia.

Additionally, the agreements included the launch of the largest logistics complex in Riyadh, valued at SAR 1 billion, covering an area of 200,000 square meters.
This complex features modern facilities equipped with state-of-the-art automation systems and sustainable solar energy systems.
Moreover, a cutting-edge industrial centre specializing in therapeutic fields, including oncology drugs, will also be established.
At the exhibition, agreements were signed to boost the Kingdom’s biotechnology sector, including a 3 billion SAR investment for a biopharmaceutical manufacturing centre and a 1 billion SAR deal to expand biological drug production for autoimmune therapies.
Saudi Vax partnered with Henlius and Fosun Pharma to establish Fosun Henlius Middle East Co. and the Saudi Vax factory, worth 426 million SAR. Additionally, a 2 billion SAR agreement was signed to build the ZETA Gulf pharmaceutical factory in Saudi Arabia.
It is worth noting that the global pharmaceutical exhibition “CPHI Middle East,” specializing in pharmaceuticals and the pharmaceutical industry worldwide, kicked off today in the capital city of Riyadh.
The event will run until 12 December under the patronage of the Ministry of Health, featuring participation from more than 400 exhibitors from over 100 countries and over 150 speakers, including prominent figures in the local and international pharmaceutical sectors, across a total area of approximately 38,000 square meters.
