Buraidah Ready to Kick off Dates Carnival

Buraidah city is in full swing to launch the Dates Carnival, the world’s largest annual date carnival, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The major economic and cultural event will kick off on Thursday. It is organized by the Governorate of Al Qassim Region and the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, under the supervision of the National Center for Palms and Dates, and with the collaboration of Al Qassim Municipality and the Regions’ Police Department.

Buraidah Ready to Kick off Dates Carnival

The Buraidah Dates Carnival is the largest agricultural economic event in the world. It extends over 51 days and features a variety of events and activities. The Carnival is ready to receive more than 2,000 vehicles loaded with hundreds of tons of dates daily.

Over 4,300 male and female Saudis will participate in the Dates Carnival. Farmers and traders will exhibit more than 50 varieties of Al Qassim dates, including Sukkari, Barhi and Saqi.

Buraidah Ready to Kick off Dates Carnival

The Buraidah Dates Carnival is famous for its strong purchasing power and for generating the highest revenues for the region. This year, the Carnival aspires to surpass last year’s figures and to keep pace with Saudi Arabia’s advancements across various fields.

In 2023, the number of farmers’ vehicles that entered the market exceeded 60,000 loaded with more than 7 million packages. Meanwhile, the Carnival’s visitors surpassed 400,000.

Buraidah Ready to Kick off Dates Carnival

Saudi Arabia has more than 34 million palm trees across all the Kingdom’s regions. Al Qassim possesses 11.2 million palm trees. The region produces over 528,000 tons of dates, accounting for 35% of the Kingdom’s date production estimated at 1.6 million tons.
