Arab Six-Party Meeting in Cairo Rejects Palestinians Displacement, Transfer from Lands

The Arab Six-Party Consultative Meeting in Cairo has released the joint statement after a significant meeting gathering the Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan, and Palestine, as well as the Secretary-General of the Arab League (AL).

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the participating parties in the meeting agreed on the following:

Welcoming Gaza Ceasefire

The participants welcomed the agreement to cease fire in Gaza and exchange hostages and detainees. In this regard, they commended the Egyptian and Qatari efforts to reach ceasefire agreement.

The ministers also underscored the US’s pivotal role in achieving this agreement with a futuristic view to collaborate with the administration of US President Donald Trump in order to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

Complete Rejection of Dividing Gaza

The participating parties emphasized the significance of ensuring a sustainable ceasefire and full implementation of all its stages and provisions.

Furthermore, they stressed the importance of ensuring the access of humanitarian support, shelter aid, as well as recovery and rehabilitation requirements to all parts of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, they affirmed the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces and the complete rejection of any attempts to divide the Strip.

Consequently, they assured full support to empower the Palestinian Authority to assume its duties in the Gaza Strip as part of the occupied Palestinian territory along with the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Supporting UNRWA’s Role

The participating officials emphasized the irreplaceable role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Comprehensive Reconstruction of Gaza

Crucially, the meeting stressed the importance of the international community’s collaborative efforts to carry out a comprehensive reconstruction process in Gaza.

In the same context, the ministers stressed the need to improve the daily lives of the Palestinian residents in Gaza and addresses the problems of internal displacement.

Complete Rejection of Settlement Activities & Transfer

The meeting expressed full support to the Palestinians’ strong adherence to their legitimate rights in accordance with international law.

Therefore, they strongly reject “any infringement of these inalienable rights, whether through settlement activities, expulsion and demolition of homes, annexation of land.”

Moreover, they refused any evacuation attempts through displacement or transfer or uprooting of Palestinians from their land in any way or under any circumstances or justifications.

Welcoming Egypt & UN Cooperation

The participating ministers encourage Egypt’s intention to cooperate with the United Nations in order to host an international conference for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

In the same context, they called on the international community and donors to play a significant role in this process.

Implementing Two-State Solution

They called on the international community, the international and regional powers, and the United Nations Security Council, to start the actual implementation of the two-state solution.

In addition, they encourage a just settlement of the Palestinian issue, including the embodiment of the Palestinian state on its entire national territory in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the lines of June 4, 1967.
