The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, recently concluded an official visit to Spain. During his trip, he held bilateral meetings with Spanish government ministers and private sector leaders.
They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the industrial and mining sectors and explored joint opportunities in strategic areas, including aviation, automobiles, and shipping.
The governmental meetings for Minister Alkhorayef, attended by Princess Haifa bint Abdulaziz Al-Muqrin, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Spain, confirmed the development of economic relations and strengthened bilateral ties between the two countries. These meetings aim to build on the solid Saudi-Spanish relations in various fields and expand them into broader industrial and mining cooperation.
His Excellency’s meetings included discussions with leaders from the private sector, including Drone Hopper, Ferroglobe, Reinasa Forgings & Casting, as well as IDIADA and Xcalibur. During the visit, He also met with members of the Saudi-Spanish Business Council and discussed the Council’s role in supporting economic ties between the two countries.
IE University in Madrid
Al-Khorayef visited IE University in Madrid, met with faculty members and Saudi scholarships, in addition to visiting the Spanish Geological and Mining Institute, and viewed the mineral exhibits in its museum.
His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources also invited Spanish ministers and CEOs of major mining companies to attend the international mining conference that will be held in Riyadh early next year.

The visit aims to enhance Saudi industry in order to become a global leader. This will be achieved through the transfer of knowledge and industrial innovation, leveraging advanced industrial experiences, and establishing effective partnerships to attract the latest manufacturing technologies. Additionally, it seeks to attract mining investments to exploit the mineral resources in the Kingdom and maximize the benefits of the national economy from this sector.
