The Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Saudi Tourism Authority, Mr. Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb, announced the inclusion of Saudi Arabia as an official tourist destination for visitors from China.
He stated that this step results from joint efforts and cooperation between the Saudi and Chinese tourism sectors. Saudi Arabia aims to attract more than 5 million Chinese tourists by 2030. He also added that all facilities are prepared to provide Chinese tourists with an exceptional and inspiring experience.
Strategic Partnership
On his part, the Kingdom’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Harbi, described the People’s of China’s adoption of Saudi Arabia as a tourist destination for groups of tourists from China. Furthermore, it is a positive step to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in various fields.
Fahd Hamid Al-Din, CEO and Board member of the Saudi Tourism Authority, stated that Saudi Arabia’s recognition as an official tourist destination for Chinese tourists highlights the Authority’s ongoing successes.
He noted that many steps have been taken to ensure a smooth, enjoyable, and safe experience for Chinese tourists. Moreover, these include facilitating visa procedures, increasing flight capacity by over 130%, incorporating Chinese language in airports and tourist sites.
The Saudi tourism system also highlighted many steps, opening new cooperation horizons to attract Chinese tourists and improve their experience from planning the visit to returning home. Air seat capacity has doubled in 2024, and Saudi Airlines announced 9 direct weekly flights from Riyadh to major Chinese cities. Additionally, China Air, China Eastern, and China Southern announced direct flights to Saudi cities, increasing flight capacity by over 130%.
