The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, received on Wednesday a written message from the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The letter discussed the relations between Saudi Arabia and Russia.
During a meeting at the Saudi Foreign Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, the Saudi Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and General Supervisor of the Public Diplomacy Deputyship, Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, received the written message from the Russian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sergey Kozlov.
The two officials reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen joint cooperation across various fields.
Last week, Putin briefed the Saudi Crown Prince on the results of his recent discussions with the US President, Donald Trump, in Alaska. The Russian President also extended his gratitude and appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in promoting peace and stability.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for his part, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering support for diplomatic dialogue as a means to resolve international disputes and conflicts.
On August 15, 2025, Putin and Trump held a critical meeting in Alaska to discuss an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. Few days later, Trump held another meeting with the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the leaders of Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Finland, the European Commission and NATO.
The US President said that Washington would support European security guarantees to Ukraine and arrange an in-person meeting between Zelensky and Putin.
However, Moscow stated that it has no plans for such a meeting until Kyiv agrees to its demands to end the war, a move that prompted Trump to renew his threat of sanctions against Russia.
