The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque employs the finest, highest-quality materials to produce the Kiswa of the Holy Kaaba—continuing a tradition of meticulous craftsmanship that spans over a century.

The Authority highlights that seven distinct fabrics are supplied to the Kiswa Factory, including:

  • Plain green silk (used behind the curtain)
  • Patterned black silk
  • Plain black silk
  • Beige cotton (used as lining for the Kaaba cloth)
  • Plain red silk
  • White cotton fabric
  • Patterned green silk (used for the inner lining of the Kaaba and the covering of the Prophet’s Chamber)
