The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in Istanbul to attend two separate meetings on the Iran-Israel conflict, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported.
On Saturday, Araghchi will meet with Arab League Foreign Ministers and the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The two meetings are taking place in light of the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, which erupted on June 13, 2025, following Israeli attacks on Iran. Both countries have been exchanging heavy aerial and missile strikes since then.
The OIC meeting will discuss Israel’s aggression on Iran, as well as broader regional security issues. Before that, an extraordinary meeting for the Council of Ministers of the Arab League will convene in Istanbul, according to TRT Global.
More than 40 foreign ministers from the OIC member states will take part in the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, under the theme “The OIC in a Transforming World.”
“At this meeting, at the suggestion of Iran, the issue of the Zionist regime’s attack on our country will be specifically addressed,” Araghchi said, according to Tasnim news agency.
Moreover, the Arab League diplomats are expected to issue a joint statement following their meeting, the Turkish state news agency Anadolu reported.
The two meetings come on the heels of a meeting between Araghchi and the E3 (France, Germany and the UK) in Geneva on Friday. The meeting did not achieve a diplomatic breakthrough, but left the door open for future talks.
Araghchi, on his part, said he was open for more talks with the E3 and the EU, reiterating that Iran will not negotiate with the US under conflict.
“Iran is ready to consider diplomacy if aggression ceases and the aggressor is held accountable for its committed crimes,” he told reporters after the Geneva meeting.
