Hajj 2025: Saudi Arabia Boosts Pilgrim Comfort with 2,400 Water Coolers

Saudi Arabia has successfully completed a significant project to enhance the drinking water system in the holy sites. This initiative aims to accommodate the expected influx of Muslim pilgrims during the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, scheduled for early next month. The project focuses on mitigating the intense heat that pilgrims often face while performing their rituals.

Enhanced Drinking Water Facilities

The new system features 2,400 chilled water facilities strategically placed along pedestrian paths throughout the Hajj season. This extensive installation ensures that pilgrims have easy access to refreshing water, significantly reducing the risk of dehydration. Kidana, the master developer of the Holy Sites in Saudi Arabia, spearheaded this project to improve the overall experience for pilgrims.

In addition to the water coolers, Kidana has installed over 500 mist fans in Mina, located approximately six kilometers east of Makkah. These mist fans provide much-needed relief from the heat, enhancing comfort for the millions of pilgrims. The installation covers an area exceeding 35,000 square meters, ensuring that many pilgrims benefit from this cooling solution.

Comprehensive Heat Mitigation Measures

Saudi Arabia has implemented various measures to combat extreme heat during the Hajj season. These measures include covering roads with heat-reducing materials and enhancing the misting system. Additionally, air conditioning units have been installed in shelters provided for pilgrims, ensuring their comfort during the pilgrimage.

This year’s Hajj marks the last occurrence in summer heat for the next 16 years in Saudi Arabia. The government remains committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of all pilgrims, making this year’s pilgrimage a memorable and enjoyable experience.
