Saudi Red Sea Authority Starts Its Field Visits

The Saudi Red Sea Authority has started its field visits. The authority is the main regulator and enabler of coastal tourism in the Red Sea. These visits are a requirement for issuing the necessary licenses to regulate navigational and marine tourism activities in the Red Sea.
The authority started its field work with 14 visits to Jeddah, Jazan and Al-Lith Governorate. Its field work involves issuing licenses to operators of tourist marinas. This is one of the authority’s services in line with its new regulations. These regulations have been in force since November 5, 2023.
Authority’s Mission
These regulations are the result of joint cooperation between the Authority and its strategic partners from the public and private sectors, as part of the Authority’s mission. This mission is promoting the growth of coastal tourism while ensuring environmental sustainability.
Issuing licenses to tourist marina operators aims to facilitate the management of marina operations. Moreover, it aims to enhance customer service quality, and maintain a safe environment for yachts and Red Sea visitors. Issuing licenses to tourist shipping agents enables them to provide the services of the Marine Tourism Agency, according to the best standards for the service of yachts and cruise ships.
Importance of Coastal Tourism Licenses
The new coastal tourism licenses represent a qualitative leap in the development of coastal tourism in the Kingdom. It represent the first step of its kind in this direction. This is achieved by working with partners in both the public and private sectors towards enhancing nautical and maritime tourism activities along the Red Sea coast.
It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Red Sea Authority was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers in November 2021. Its aim is to regulate nautical activities and maritime activities for tourism purposes by establishing necessary policies, strategies, and plans.
It also involves identifying locations and nautical maps for conducting these activities, issuing necessary licenses and permits, determining requirements and needs for infrastructure, establishing controls, rules, and standards necessary for providing services related to these activities. It takes into account the need to ensure the protection of the marine environment in cooperation with relevant entities.
Additionally, the authority encourages and supports investors to market these activities and attract the targeted practitioners. It also contributes to building specialized human resources through plans for qualifying and training national talents.
