The Saudi Association for Media and Communication (SAMC) has launched its 10th international conference in Riyadh, bringing together prominent experts, academics, and industry specialists to explore the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in the media sector.

Held over two days, the conference focuses on integrating AI into media practices, raising awareness among professionals about emerging technologies, and enhancing performance standards. The event also aligns with the designation of 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence.

Participants highlighted the importance of adopting well-informed strategies to fully benefit from AI while addressing its potential risks. They stressed that new technologies are meant to support—not replace—traditional media practices, while warning against the spread of shallow content and the decline of investigative journalism.

The conference features a series of scientific sessions discussing topics such as media ethics, academic responsibility, media investment, and practical applications of AI. It will conclude with a session outlining key recommendations.
