Civil Defense Provides 7 Safety Guidelines When Hearing Warning Siren Near Potential Danger

The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a number of guidelines that should be followed when a warning siren indicating potential danger is heard.

The Civil Defense Directorate explained that when a warning siren signaling nearby danger is heard, people should first remain calm and follow official instructions. They should then immediately move to the nearest safe place inside a building or to an interior room away from windows, and stay there until the danger has passed.

The Directorate also advised following these instructions:

  • Stay away from open areas and glass, and do not stand on balconies or rooftops.
  • If you are outside, enter the nearest building or take shelter behind a solid barrier.
  • Do not go outside until the “all clear” siren is heard.
  • If you notice any danger, call the emergency number (911) in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and (998) in the rest of the Kingdom.
  • Follow the instructions issued by the relevant authorities through official channels.

Finally, the Civil Defense Directorate stressed that adhering to these safety guidelines helps protect lives and reduce risks during emergency situations. By remaining calm, seeking appropriate shelter, and following official instructions until the all-clear signal is announced, individuals can contribute to their own safety and the safety of those around them. The Directorate also emphasized the importance of staying informed through official channels and cooperating with emergency services whenever a potential danger warning is issued.
