Saudi Arabia Thwarts Drone, Missile Attacks on Al-Jouf, Al-Kharj

Saudi Arabia’s air defenses have successfully neutralized drone and missile threats targeting Al-Jouf and Al-Kharj regions, according to the Saudi Defense Ministry.

On Thursday, the Defense Ministry’s official spokesperson, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, said in a statement that Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed a drone east of Al-Jouf Region.

Earlier on Thursday, Al-Maliki stated that air defenses intercepted and destroyed three drones east of Al-Kharj governorate.

Furthermore, the spokesperson said that three cruise missiles were neutralized outside of Al-Kharj governorate. Al-Kharj is a key industrial and agricultural hub located in the Riyadh Region.

Over the past four days, Saudi Arabia has been intercepting drones and missiles. On Wednesday, the Defense Ministry said it thwarted a drone attack targeting Ras Tanura oil refinery in the Eastern Province.

This followed a drone attack earlier this week, which caused minor damage from the falling debris. The latest foiled attack did not cause any damage or disruption to supplies, an official at the Energy Ministry told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Saudi air defenses on Wednesday intercepted and destroyed two cruise missiles in Al-Kharj and one drone in the Eastern Province. Moreover, they neutralized 9 drones immediately upon entering the Saudi airspace.

Amid the recent regional military escalations, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region have repelled a surge in Iranian aerial aggressions. This included targeting the US Embassy in Riyadh with two drones on March 3, causing a limited fire and minor damage to the building.

As a result, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries strongly condemned the Iranian aggressions, stressing their right to self-defense in the face of these heinous attacks.
