
President of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), Fahad Aldossari, met in Riyadh with UNICEF Gulf Area Director Lana Al Wreikat to explore opportunities for collaboration in areas of shared interest.
The discussions centered on strengthening partnerships and exchanging expertise to improve data production, elevate data quality, and enhance its role in informing public policy and decision-making, in alignment with international standards and best practices.
The two sides also reviewed GASTAT’s ongoing strategic transformation, which aims to establish the authority as a leading regional and global statistical institution. Moreover, this transformation includes advancing digital infrastructure, expanding data accessibility, strengthening national statistical capabilities, and fostering deeper international partnerships.

Talks further addressed Saudi Arabia’s preparations to host the sixth UN World Data Forum in Riyadh this year, underscoring the importance of regional and international cooperation to ensure the event’s success and to promote global dialogue on data for sustainable development.
Aldossari also reaffirmed GASTAT’s commitment to expanding collaboration with regional and international organizations to enhance statistical capacity building and solidify the Kingdom’s standing as a prominent regional and global hub for data.
