Women Empowerment in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has made major strides towards gender equality and women empowerment, in line with objectives of the transformative Vision 2030, which aims to boost women’s participation in the workforce, diversify the national economy, and invest in new sectors such as technology, tourism and renewable energy.
In the light of this, the Kingdom has set an ambitious goal of increasing female participation in the workforce to 40% by 2030, after women participation surpassed the original goal of 30%.
This remarkable progress is the result of Saudi Arabia’s new policies and initiatives, including educational reforms and new legislations designed to remove barriers to women’s participation in the workforce. In recent years, Saudi women have excelled in many fields, showcasing unparalleled skills and ascending to key positions.
Riyadh: An Emerging Conference Hub
The ongoing transformation in Saudi Arabia has bolstered new sectors, such as tourism, sports, culture, and entertainment. This, in turn, will have a great impact on the exhibitions and conferences industry.
The choice of Riyadh to host Forbes Middle East Women’s Summit 2024 emphasizes the city’s potential to serve as a hub for hosting international events.
During the inaugural International MICE Summit (IMS24), held in Riyadh from December 15-17, 2024, the Saudi Tourism Minister, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, noted that Saudi Arabia’s capital city, Riyadh, is making rapid progress towards establishing itself as a global hub for exhibitions and conferences.
The construction of projects, such as airports, hotels, resorts, and advanced infrastructure further supports the realization of this vision, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
