Wadi AlFann (Valley of the Arts) is a visionary destination in AlUla where the desert becomes a permanent canvas. It stands as one of AlUla‘s most ambitious cultural landmarks, envisioned as a permanent, open-air sanctuary for contemporary art.
The project aims to transform the vast natural landscape into an immersive artistic experience, blending monumental installations with the raw beauty of the landscape, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Most recently, a delegation of art and culture experts, alongside media professionals, visited Wadi AlFann, as part of the efforts aimed at introducing the project’s development and long-term vision.
During the visit, they explored the natural terrains that will serve as permanent venues for world-class artistic installations in the near future, ultimately establishing a comprehensive open-air museum in the heart of AlUla’s natural environment.
The Wadi AlFann project adopts a contemporary approach that reimagines the landscape as a vibrant and sustainable space for creativity. By integrating monumental art into the natural topography, the project ensures each piece feels like an organic extension of the landscape rather than an artificial addition.
Looking ahead, Wadi AlFann will serve as a permanent home for site-specific commissions by international artists. These installations will draw their concepts and materials from AlUla’s unique topography and its deep geological and human history, fostering a continuous visual dialogue between art, place, and time.
Wadi AlFann is a long-term cultural initiative aimed at establishing a comprehensive artistic ecosystem within a natural setting, shifting away from conventional exhibition patterns to embed contemporary art in natural environments.
While the site is currently closed to the public, the project is advancing through a phased development plan. This ensures that each installation harmonizes with the desert, preserving the valley as a protected natural space as it transforms into a world-class, open-air destination.
