The arrival of the US special envoy to Yemen to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss the Yemeni situation was announced by the US State Department on Tuesday.
Tim Lenderking will meet with senior Saudi Arabian officials and the Yemeni government to discuss ending the Houthi violence on Marib, which is increasing the country’s humanitarian catastrophe, according to a statement.
The Special Envoy will also speak about the urgent need to stabilize Yemen’s economy, as well as the necessity for the Houthis to stop manipulating petroleum imports.
For the second day in a row, Yemeni government forces are engaged in continuous engagements against the Iranian-supported Houthi coup militia in the Yarref region, northwest of Ma’rib Governorate, backed by public resistance.
According to the Yemeni news agency, a military source told the Armed Forces Media Center that the army and resistance forces were able to eject members of the Houthi militia from various areas in the region on Monday, following fierce engagements that cost the militia a lot of lives and equipment.
He went on to say that the army had apprehended a group of militia members and recovered guns and ammunition.
