US cancels hundreds of flights due to a lack of crews
US Airlines have canceled hundreds of flights due to a shortage of crews, according to Russia Today.
About 600 flights were canceled and more than 2,100 were delayed, according to the FlightAware website, which specializes in tracking air traffic.
The situation was worse on Friday, as the website announced that it had monitored the cancellation of 3,060 flights and the delay of about 8,000 others.
These problems are increasingly facing American travelers, as American airlines operate with 15% fewer crews compared to the pre-pandemic period.
America is facing difficulties in dealing with the return of the great demand for travelers on flights.
Airlines confirm that they are working to find a solution to the problem, and are strengthening their campaigns to hire pilots and crew members, knowing that the number of seats available to passengers has decreased due to measures to contain Covid-19.
Sector experts talk about other external factors that exacerbate the situation, especially in terms of climate and the pandemic.
On Saturday, US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg reminded travelers in a tweet that they are entitled to a refund of travel tickets in the event of cancellations of flights.
