Turkish Agency to Help Find Hostage Bodies in Gaza

Turkey has deployed a team of 81 disaster relief experts to the Gaza Strip, including experts who will assist in finding the remains of 19 hostages still unaccounted for, according to a source from the Defense Ministry.

The source clarified that the team was assigned by Turkey’s Disaster Management Authority (AFAD), noting that “one team will be responsible for locating and finding the bodies.”

The source also specified the tasks of the team which include delivering humanitarian aid, recovering bodies, and helping to maintain the ceasefire.

However, there is no clear information on how the team will carry out these tasks on the ground, Al-Arabiya reported.

When asked whether Turkish military forces might participate in the mission, the source noted that it would “basically be the responsibility of civilian entities such as AFAD.”

At the same time, he recognized that the military could provide assistance if necessary.

In recent years, AFAD has implemented rescue and humanitarian aid missions in over 50 countries on five continents, including Somalia, the Palestinian territories, Ecuador, the Philippines, Nepal, Yemen, Mozambique, and Chad.
