Strengthening Defense Partnership

“Tonight, I’m pleased to announce that we’re taking our military cooperation to even greater heights by formally designating Saudi Arabia as a major non-NATO ally, which is something that’s very important to them,” Trump said.

The announcement followed a meeting between the Saudi Crown Prince and Trump at the White House, after which they signed a “historic” Saudi-US Strategic Defense Agreement that strengthens the bilateral defense partnership and bolsters deterrence across the Middle East.

Moreover, the US President approved the sale of F-35 stealth fighters to the Kingdom, and secured an agreement for Saudi Arabia to purchase nearly 300 American tanks as part of a major defense sale package, according to the White House.

Deepening Cooperation

The two leaders also signed several agreements that boost their strategic partnership, including the Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement, an AI Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and a Critical Minerals Framework.
